Vasal Diameter and Reversal Success Presented at SMSNA Annual Meeting — 2025

We are proud to present a rare scientific contribution at the Sexual Medicine Society of North America Annual Meeting — 26th Annual Fall Scientific Meeting, 2025.

This study explored the role of vas deferens diameter as a predictor of vasectomy reversal success, based on a large single-surgeon cohort of 535 procedures.

Key findings:

  • 85.3% patency rate
  • Mean obstructive interval: 8.7 years
  • Mean patient age: 41.8 years

The study demonstrated that:

  • Abdominal vas diameter is a statistically significant predictor of success (p < 0.05)
  • Testicular vas diameter showed a positive trend towards significance

This is the first study globally to establish vasal diameter as a measurable intraoperative predictor of outcomes.

At our centre, routine measurement of vasal diameter during surgery allows for more personalised outcome prediction, providing patients with a higher level of precision in counselling and decision-making.
